Psilocybin therapy is truffle therapy

Here in the Netherlands psilocybin therapy is actually truffle therapy since psilocybin is still illegal, but truffles containing psilocybin are not. By the way, if we really want to say it correctly, it is not even psilocybin that causes the psychedelic effect but psilocin.

Psilocybin is converted to the active substance psilocin and then resembles serotonin

After the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin, this psychedelic gets its hallucinogenic effects. Also, psilocin is very similar to serotonin and will exhibit activity on many of the same serotonergic receptors. Many of the therapeutic uses of psilocybin/psilocin are aimed at conditions involving low serotonin levels. Also, higher doses of psilocybin can contribute to new nerve connections in the brain that can (partially) treat neurodegenerative disorders.

Ongoing research on psilocybin

The number of studies on psilocybin has been on the rise for years, even though it is not a patented drug. This fact clearly shows the enormous potential of psilocybin. Currently ongoing studies are putting psilocybin to use in:

  • Alcoholism (AUD, alcohol use disorder)
  • Smoking addiction
  • Opioid addiction
  • Major depression (Depressive disorder Major)
  • Therapy resistant depression
  • Anxiety symptoms
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorders (BDD)
  • Anorexia
  • Alzheimer's
  • Parkinson's
  • Migraine
  • Cluster headache

The results are promising

The results of the pilots and the studies already completed are promising and effective. The studies being done are only on the effects of psilocybin. We use psilocybin sessions in combination with lifestyle coaching so that we address health in multiple areas at once. Here at trip therapy we can only provide anecdotal evidence about the effects of our psilocybin sessions. We achieve good results in primarily depression treatments with psilocybin. Also, in addictions, burnout, anxiety symptoms and low self-esteem.

More research on psilocybin

Much more research on psilocybin is forthcoming. Some currently theoretical medicinal effects of psilocybin include the following topics of interest:

  • Psilocybin to awaken coma patients
  • Psilocybin against autism and Asperger's disease
  • Psilocybin against ADD and ADHD
  • Psilocybin against MS

Undergoing a psilocybin session

Do you also want to do a psilocybin session? Preparation is very important and it is good to ask yourself why you want to do a session. Also, it is wise to improve the current neurochemistry in the brain so that the session goes better and also has more impact. Furthermore, dosage plays a big role. People with anxiety complaints often use lower doses than other sessions. Do you want a personal plan regarding neurochemistry, preparation and aftercare? Then choose trip therapy. Do you just want to do a session without these perks? Then choose a truffle ceremony.
